30th Annual Russel Ward Lecture

  • UNE Elm Ave Madgwick, NSW, 2350 Australia

This year, to coincide with the centenary of the Anzac landings, the School has invited Dr Carolyn Holbrook to deliver the thirtieth annual lecture. Dr Holbrook is the author of Anzac: An Unauthorised Biography (NewSouth, 2014), which has received considerable praise from both the academic and general History-reading communities, as an ideal linkage between the two – often disconnected – spheres of historical inquiry.

Her book makes special mention of a number of UNE scholars as pivotal contributors to the development of the Anzac legend: Adjunct Professor David Kent, Dr Nathan Wise, and the late Professor Ward himself.
