The Sarajevo Concert

29.99

A concert with deep symbolic significance. On June 28, 2014, in the former city hall of Sarajevo, the Vijećnica, the Vienna Philharmonic commemorated the events which led to the outbreak of World War I exactly 100 years previously.

The concert program represented a historical commemoration with compositions such as Haydn's "Emperor Quartet', Schubert's 'Unfinished' Symphony, Brahms' "Song of Destiny" (with the Chorus of the National Theater Sarajevo) and Ravel's "La Valse". At the same time it expressed the hope of the continuation of the road to peace in a united Europe with Josef Strauss' waltz "Palms of Peace" and the European Anthem as encores.
